Ecosystem services for olive growers

Ecosystem services are the benefits that nature provides to society, offering farmers the opportunity to harness them within their operations. These services are divided into different categories: provisioning services, such as the water cycle and food production; regulating services, which include pollination and soil fertility; supporting services, which create habitats for flora and fauna; and cultural services, intangible benefits like landscape value and cultural identity.

This infographic provides a concise overview of some of the most important ecosystem services for farmers. It highlights how biodiversity recovery plays a crucial role in pest control, whether mammals or insects, through complex processes. It also emphasizes how the presence of herbaceous cover helps reduce erosion and increase soil fertility. Additionally, it explores the essential role of certain plant species in controlling diseases that threaten the health of olive trees, such as Verticillium wilt.
